This document was sent as a follow-up to TABC’s August 13, 2025 email (“Ways forward from CN’s BC Rail abandonment plans – Transport Action British Columbia“) to municipalities and First Nations along the BCR line from Squamish to Prince George.
Two Squamish Councillors responded. They are supportive except for the idea of commuter rail south of Squamish, which isn’t specifically mentioned in the document. One of the Councillors mentioned TAO/TAC’s Feb. 2024 letter to the Minister of Transport (Rethinking-Canadas-rail-infrastructure-policy-final-1.pdf) as being relevant to the BCR situation (rail discontinuance process, rail banking, supporting short lines).
