Canada Needs a National Rail Strategy

Transport Action Canada wrote a lengthy letter to the current Federal Transportation Minister, The Honourable Steven McKinnon. The letter argues for a national rail strategy in order to build a rail network that supports Canada’s economic, social, and environmental. The current system by which Canada’s rail infrastructure is determined, mostly, by foreign shareholders only interested in their bottom-line with no consideration for national or long term interests needs drastic reconsideration in light of current changes to the country’s economic situation.
