With Vancouver being one of the host cities for the FIFA Word Cup in 2026, thousands of football fans will be travelling to matches with many expected to arrive by rail, including by Amtrak’s Cascades route from Seattle, which is also a host city. Therefore, Transport Action BC has written to federal Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez asking that Canada invest alongside Washington State DOT, as requested in the Amtrak Cascades Service Development Plan. Our letter and his response follow.
Our letter was copied to B.C. Premier David Eby, meeting at the time with the U.S. Ambassador and discussing partnering with Amtrak for service during the FIFA World Cup.
