Petition: Reconciliation and Rail for Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island Railway Trestle

Since the announcement earlier this year that both levels of government wanted to pursue a reconciliation-first approach the the Vancouver Island Corridor, indications of progress toward reconciliation have been elusive.

Therefore a formal petition to the House of Commons has been launched by local advocate Warren Skaalrud, and which is supported by the Vancouver Island Transportation Corridor Coalition, calling upon Canada to allocate funds to the process and “Work with dedicated resources and with a nation-to-nation approach to reconcile and resolve long-standing First Nations’ concerns with certain sections of the Island Corridor.”

Please sign the petition and share it with your contacts:

Once signatures have been gathered, the petition will be presented to the House of Commons by Alistair MacGregor, MP for Cowichan—Malahat—Langford, and the Minister of Transport and/or the Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations will have to table a response.
