The District of Squamish Council at its Feb. 17, 2026 meeting passed a resolution supporting preservation and revitalisation of the BC Rail line as a strategic provincial rail corridor. The resolution will be presented to the Lower Mainland Local Government Association and the Union of B.C. Municipalities later this year.
The background information supporting the resolution references TA Ontario’s 2024 report to the federal government stating the country needs to change rail discontinuance policies and move to rail banking.
